Matte, satin or gloss paint

MATT PAINT
It is the most used; it softens the surfaces and distributes the light throughout the room without reflecting it. It is easier to apply since it covers more and helps to hide the imperfections of the walls or ceilings, so it is recommended in older walls that are always more beaten and in which we do not want to smooth completely. It is also better on walls that receive a lot of natural light directly.

SATIN PAINT
It has a slightly glossy and silky appearance, and is easier to clean than matte paint and better protects the wall. At first glance, there is not much difference with matte paint, but when the light hits the walls directly, the brightness is visible.

Against it we could say that it is more difficult to apply, the imperfections are more noticeable, so the surface will have to be thoroughly prepared, and the traces of the brush can be noticed.

It is recommended to use it in bathrooms and kitchens or areas with little natural lighting or that suffer more stains, such as children's rooms. It can also be used as a decorative element, painting only a wall or a strip in a bright colour.

Once a wall has been painted with satin paint, you cannot put a matte paint on top, but it has to be reapplied with satin paint. It is vital to bear it in mind when painting since if one wants to change from satin to matte, a special primer needs to be placed previously.

GLOSSY PAINT
Glossy paint is used more to make decorative effects, for example, painting reliefs on matte paint.
