Types of paint on facades

When choosing paint for our facade, there are several aspects that we must take into account. We are going to take a brief tour of the most used types of paint, highlighting some of their characteristics. Specifically, we will talk about lime paints, plastic paints, mineral silicate paints, pliolite paints and silicone resins.

PLASTIC PAINTS
- It is the most used option due to its value for money.
- They form a waterproof film on the facade.
- They are less breathable than other options.

SILICATE MINERAL PAINTS
- They do not form a film on the surface, ideal for historical buildings.
- It can be used on surfaces of mineral origin such as exposed bricks, concrete or mortar plasters.
- Permeable to water vapour.
- They protect naturally against microorganisms such as algae, moulds or lichens.

PLIOLITE PAINTINGS
- Waterproof and impermeable to rainwater.
- Permeable to water vapour, breathable.
- Self-cleaning by rainwater.
- Anti-carbonation barrier.
- It can be applied in unfavourable environmental conditions, such as days of high humidity or even rain.
- It is diluted with a solvent.

SILICONE RESIN PAINTS
- High breathability.
- Water repellants.
- It can be applied to all types of traditional plasters and on well-adhered old paints.
- Washable.
- Resistant to chemical attacks.
- Little retention of dirt.
- High UV rays.
- It is diluted with water.
