Materials for the construction of roofs
January 24, 2023

The style of the roof is often dictated by the style of the house. However, the color that is defined for the ceiling requires careful consideration because there are always conflicting influences at play.

To choose the right roof for your house it is advisable to have a maximum of three materials, three texture options or three colors of the same visual field, in this way you will have the precise alternatives to choose the best one, the one that fits perfectly to the facade of the residence.

Clearly, before starting the construction of the roof it is necessary to have all safety issues perfectly synchronized. For example, to get to the top of the house, the first thing you need to have at hand is an appropriate scaffolding system that will give the security of working in inaccessible areas with enough space for the movement of workers.

Already having regulated and improved all the safety conditions it is time to talk about materials and colors for the ceiling. The best colors for ceilings are usually light mid-range shades, which highlight the window frames. For example, if the window frames are dark gray, the roof could be a light gray, or maybe brick by means of tiles. There may also be a terracotta-colored wall, so the ceiling can be of a similar but slightly darker color. Whatever the approach, the color of the ceiling somehow has to be connected with the color of the rest of the house.

It should be borne in mind that very light colored roofs can destroy the appearance of a house and make the roof stand out from the rest, without this being necessary. Therefore, to make a good choice there are the following alternatives of materials for the ceiling that can be easily installed:

  • Terracotta tiles: This type of tiles are available in many different profiles and colors. They are suitable for constructions in warm places and very popular thanks to their good appearance and durability.
  • Cement tiles - a really inexpensive material, much more so than its terracotta counterparts. Cement shingles tend to wear out relatively quickly compared to other materials. Application of paint does not protect them as it is not impregnated on the painted surface.
  • Slate shingles - These roofing materials are excellent for withstanding severe weather. They retain their elegant appearance for an exceptionally long life, normally around 120 years.
  • Fiber cement roof tiles - These are synthetic roof tiles and are available in different rectangular sizes, as well as diamond-shaped. It is a cheap and lighter product than natural slate tiles.
